Curtain Wall Design

With the development of the curtain wall in the mid nineteenth century when traditionally load bearing walls were replaced by the development and widespread use of structural concrete and later reinforced concrete thus facilitaing that the the exterior walls of buildings were no longer required for structural support. The exterior walls could be much lighter and more open than the load bearing walls of the past. This gave way to the increased use of glass as an exterior facade and the modern day curtain wall was born. Extal's curtain wall systems employ the very latest in innovation and design technology within this field.

Mrg Curtain Wall System

The Mrg curtain wall system with it's emphasis on the vertical and horizontal lines is reminiscent of the original early modernist Bauhaus curtain wall designs. By far the most popular curtain wall system in operation today it creates an elegant and orderly appearance to the external facade whilst dramatically opening up the interior spaces to the outside landscape. Today's curtain walls are high performance systems which require little maintenance. The aluminum outer caps can be easily extruded into any shape required for design and aesthetic purposes. The Mrg curtain wall system provides an architecturally pleasing building as well as benefits such as daylighting.

Msg Curtain Wall System

The Msg curtain wall combines the the use of glazing bars with silicone sealants which allows for more options and variations in the design and aesthetics of the exterior facade. If it is the horizontal line that you want to emphasis then glazing bars are used along this line with seamless joints along the vertical direction. Alternatively if it is the vertical line that needs expressing, silicone sealants would be employed in the horizontal direction.

Mfg Curtain Wall System

The curtain wall glazing in this system is installed to an aluminum frame which is then attached mechanically to the building structure to form the building enclosure. The underlying design principle as personified by the architect Mies van der Rohe with such buildings as the Seagram building in New York, is the purity of the form and the removing of extraneous visual elements, producing calm, crystalline exterior facades. It is possible to intergrate within our curtain wall systems windows and doors while maintaining the integrity of form.

Mdg Curtain Wall System

The Mdg climatic curtain wall system has been customised by the development department of Extal in consultation with aluminum and architectural consultants.Unique to this system is an external screen which incorporates insulated glazing and an air conditioning system that regulates the temperature in the middle. An in-swing casement system can be incorporated in the inner wall for natural ventilation and cleaning. This technically advanced curtain wall application has the advantages of high level thermal insulation and economic benefits in the areas of energy savings and environmental sustainability.
